Another state murder against immigrants, another murder against our class. On Wednesday 10/04 the immigration service raided an apartment of immigrants, resulting in Anis, মো: আনিছুর রহমান, a 19-year-old migrant worker, losing his life and another, md Fahad, being hospitalized in serious condition after they tried to escape by jumping from a 5th floor apartment.
The fact that the migrants chose to risk their lives rather than be in the hands of the state shows us the treatment that migrants receive when they are in the hands of the state and how just the thought of being deported makes risking their lives a one-way street.
Six months after the murderous pogroms against migrants, three months after the self-immolation of a migrant in Larnaca after the rejection of his asylum application at the same time that oligarchs-gangsters are getting Cypriot passports without having set foot in Cyprus for a single hour. At a historic moment when migrants are sinking in rotten boats on the shores of the island. This is where the narrative of the “invasion” and so many other crimes against the 'invisibles' of this world are re-entering the public debate. This incident adds to the state's murderous policy against migrants. This is confirmed by the fact that the Christodoulides government has fully adopted the elam agenda, trying to win a few votes.
The attack on migrants and their dehumanization, the increase of police presence in our cities and the narrative of “law and order”, assures us that the state and capital are trying to devalue our lives and see the people as potential enemies. It is our duty to flood the streets, locals and migrants alike, to now demand the obvious, that they cannot play with our lives. It is our duty not to let this murder go unanswered. Crimes against immigrants are crimes against our class. Thus we call on the world of struggle and wider society to gather in memory and condemnation of this incident and the generalized attack on migrants. The gathering will take place at the site of the state murder.
Saturday 12 noon we call for a commemorative meeting at the place where 19 year old Anis was murdered, opposite the main building of the AHK, next to the church of Agia Napa in Limassol.
This will be followed by a protest at the Limassol CID, the mechanism responsible for the murder of md Anisur Rahman মো: আনিছুর রহমান the daily humiliation and abuse of so many other migrant workers.
Emergency assembly against the state murder.
